Remote MCP
ChatGPT and Claude
Add Operately as a remote MCP server, then complete sign-in and access approval in the client. ChatGPT connects through Developer mode. Claude connects with a custom remote MCP connector.
AI agents
Connected tools can work with goals, projects, tasks, and check-ins through Operately's supported MCP and CLI interfaces. Choose the setup that matches your agent, then finish the connection in that client.
Operately supports two ways to connect. ChatGPT and Claude use remote MCP. OpenClaw, Codex, and Claude Code use the CLI and published skills.

CLI and skills
Install the Operately CLI and published skills so agents that can run commands can work with Operately. OpenClaw has a dedicated setup guide. Codex and Claude Code use the same CLI and skills rather than a separate native connector.
These are illustrative prompts, not recorded conversations or guaranteed results. What an agent can do still depends on the connection you set up and the permissions you grant.
“Review this quarter’s goals in Operately. Summarize which targets are on track, which are behind, and what changed since the last update.”
“Look at the Website Refresh project. Group open tasks under the current milestones and suggest a next-week order.”
“Draft a check-in for Website Refresh. Status: on track. Note that the homepage shipped and landing pages start next week.”
Use the values below as configuration, then follow the full guide for your client. Setup continues inside ChatGPT, Claude, or your CLI tool.
Add this Operately Cloud address in your client. It is a configuration value, not a one-click authorization link.
https://app.operately.com/mcp Self-hosted instances use a different MCP URL. See the MCP connections guide for that format, then follow ChatGPT or Claude for client-specific steps.
Install the CLI, then add the published skills. Authenticate in your environment using the CLI authentication guide rather than entering credentials here.
npm install -g @operately/operately-cli
npx skills add https://github.com/operately/skills Connected tools act within your Operately permissions. They can only work with the companies, spaces, and records you can already access.
MCP access also depends on the level you approve during authorization: view data, or create, update, delete, and archive content. If a client does not request an access level, it receives read-only access by default.
Each MCP connection uses one company. Operately selects it automatically if you belong to one company. If you belong to several, you choose during authorization. To use a different company, connect the client again and select that company.
Start with the connection options on this page. For the broader product view, read the AI overview. Developers can also use the Operately API.
